It was acquired by the seller in September 2018 and underwent a multi-year refurbishment beginning in 2020. Work included performing rust repairs and repainting the body in Pastel White and Agate Brown, while the interior was reupholstered, the pop-top material was replaced, and the cabinets were repaired. Additional work included replacing the tires, refreshing the suspension and brake systems, and rebuilding the air-cooled 1,970cc flat-four.
