"@pianomaniac the NSX engine uses a synthetic composite timing belt which is subject to cold set embrittlement (ductility loss) which can reduce the longevity of the belt, particularly in low mile cars. Owners who are proactive with maintenance will change the belts every 7-8 years regardless of miles driven as a way to avoid engine damage in the event of aged belt failure.

"When this was new in Whitefish, the town was still small and almost all of the residents were from the area and knew everyone else there. This would have been a common rig since much of the populace was in the timber industry or farmed. There were no speed limits in MT and they didnt salt the roads in winter, and except for the main arteries to neighboring towns most of the roads were dirt. An average guy could afford a home and some acreage. This would have been right at home there then.…"

Finished in red, it is equipped with 17" Brembo wheels, an adjustable Showa fork and Öhlins monoshock, triple Brembo disc brakes, and Weber-Marelli electronic fuel injection as well as Termignoni mufflers, clip-on handlebars, an integrated windscreen, a side stand, and a monoposto tail section with a Corbin seat. The seller reports a timing-belt service in 2020 along with work in 2024 that included changing the oil, flushing the brake fluid and coolant, replacing the battery, and fitting a Kbike clutch slave cylinder. For Sale: This 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint was initially sold at the Sportscar Store of Downers Grove, Illinois, and underwent refurbishment work from the late 1990s through the mid-2000s. The car is finished in yellow and white over black upholstery and is powered by a 1.6-Liter “Big Valve” inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a black convertible soft top, 13″ Minilite-style wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, pop-up headlights, power windows, and a Motorola push-button radio. Work performed in preparation for the sale involved refinishing the bonnet as well as replacing the steering rack boots and heater valve.
